BELTANE SPIRIT OF REBIRTH RITUAL Burnbake April 2007
We stumbled upon this Beltane festival by accident. We had gone to Burnbake to camp. Yet we were openly welcomed. This is what The Dolmen, who played a central part in the ritual had to say about it: "...a procession led by the trusted Hobby horse made its way down to the sacred area where the Wiccaman stood proudly within its centre.
Suky Burton of the Dolmen Grove called for the circle to be drawn and Taloch called the ritual of creation and the quarters were summoned... Suky to the East, Lucas to the South, Rudi to the West and Sara to the North Followed by the voice of the elements Ian of Earth, Stuart of Water, Martine of Air and Lydia of Fire.
Blessed by the chant of the sacred Awen by Damh the Bard. The Crowman sealed the circle of the Spirit of Beltane As the energy rose so the Druidheachd was reborn, Rollo Maughfling stood the the South of the circle and called for unity
I A O
Drums were beaten and Suky summoned the maid of the OoserKeri took the charge and with flute and words of enchantment so the Dorset Horned God was summoned to the chants of the gathered crowd. The Story of the Mabon Story teller Andy Harrop pettioned by the questioner Wyrdwych began the narration of the mabon, firstly to the Eagle Hendydd, The Wren Lyn, the Water Ousel Megz the old Stag Neill and finaly the one eyed Trout Dove.
And so the story was told for another year...
The Witchlord And Queen of Witchdom in to your servants go, Suky; Taloch take the charge. As the darkness of winter passes so dawns the light of the summer and new life. The Horned God of Witchdom passes his crown to his Queen and the change of season is done.
"Rebirth, Rebirth!"; The Queen does shout and all thee spirits claim your new life. The Wiccaman is set on fire and so the spell is sealed.Daughter of Fairie TS gives her blessing and the wine is given back to the earth.
